Frigidaire and Electrolux Error Codes: Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Oven

Frigidaire error codes are short messages from the control board that point to a specific problem: water that will not fill or drain, a door or lid that is not latched, a blocked dryer vent or an oven running too hot. Frigidaire is part of Electrolux, and the two brands share many support articles and codes. This guide covers only the codes Frigidaire or Electrolux explain on their US support sites. Codes vary by model, so confirm yours in your owner's manual or in Frigidaire's range error code guide and its companion articles.

Safety first: unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; electric dryers and ranges run on 240 volts. If you smell gas near a gas dryer or range, do not touch any switches or light anything. Leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.

Frigidaire error codes: two things to know first

• Many start with a reset. For range codes, Frigidaire says to disconnect power for up to 30 seconds, either by unplugging the range or by flipping its breaker off and back on.
• New installs come first. Frigidaire and Electrolux say that if the appliance was installed or moved within the last 30 days, the installer should check it first. Electrolux calls several of its codes known installation issues.

Frigidaire washer error codes

Frigidaire top-loaders use short E-codes:

• E1: slow or no fill. Close the lid, open both faucets fully, straighten the inlet hoses and clean the filter screens where the hoses connect. Frigidaire also suggests checking your water pressure.
• E2: slow or no drain. Check the breaker, straighten or clear the drain hose and check the standpipe height. Close the lid and press Start/Pause; for safety, the washer will not spin with the lid open.
• E3: lid open or lid lock failed. Close the lid fully and make sure the washer is level. If it still will not lock, Frigidaire says the lid lock or circuit board may need replacing.
• E4: out of balance in spin. The washer tries to rebalance up to three times. Spread the load, adjust the leveling legs and make sure the foam shipping supports were removed.
• E5: not level. Adjust the leveling legs so the washer is level and not leaning back.

On Frigidaire front-loaders, F2 means too much detergent or the wrong type. Use HE detergent, use less of it, and run an empty Quick Wash.

Electrolux washer error codes

Electrolux front-loaders use two-digit E-codes:

• E11: long fill time. The washer may lock for up to 6 minutes; Electrolux says not to unplug it, because that restarts the timer. Make sure hot goes to hot and cold to cold.
• E21: long pump-out time. Electrolux says a kinked drain hose is the most common cause. Also check that the supply hoses are not reversed and the drain hose is installed per the manual.
• E35: overfill. The pressure sensor reads too much water. Press Cancel, then Start; if that fails, unplug the washer, plug it back in and restart.
• E41 and E42: door. E41 means the control thinks the door is open; E42 means the door lock is not recognized. Clear any clothing, close the door until it clicks, and check the latch and striker.

When to call a technician: a fill or drain code returns with the hoses right, or a door code persists with the door shut. Inlet valves, drain pumps and door locks are the usual repairs; see washer not draining or spinning.

Electrolux dryer error codes

Electrolux publishes this dryer list. For a Frigidaire dryer, confirm any code in your owner's manual.

• E42: door open. Check that nothing blocks the door and it closes fully.
• EF1: ventilation blockage. Clean the lint filter, then check the exhaust duct and the outside vent for bends, restrictions and lint.
• E4: humidity sensor failed. The dryer finishes the current cycle, and manual cycles still work. If the code continues, schedule service.
• H2 or B2: power supply issue. Electrolux says to contact your electric company.
• H4 or B4: incorrect wiring. A known installation issue; contact your installer. Wiring at the outlet or cord is a job for a licensed electrician.

Frigidaire dishwasher error codes

Frigidaire and Electrolux publish the same dishwasher codes:

• i20: not draining. On a new install, make sure the knockout plug in the disposer was removed. Check that the drain hose is not blocked or pinched and is at the correct height, at least 32 inches from the floor, and clean the glass trap and filter.
• i40: clogged filter or sump. Clean the glass trap and filter, then run the dishwasher again.
• CL or Cd: door open. Close and latch the door, and the code clears.
• PF: loss of power. Press Start/Cancel to clear it and start a new cycle.
• Hd or HO: heating water. Not a fault. The dishwasher is heating water, which Frigidaire says takes 1 to 2 minutes per degree.

To reset after clearing i20, Frigidaire says to press and hold Cancel and to cut power for 3 minutes at the breaker or plug. When to call a technician: i20 returns with a clean filter and a clear hose. The drain pump or a clog deeper in the drain path is the usual cause; our dishwasher not draining checklist has more.

Frigidaire oven and range error codes

Frigidaire's range guide lists these, and for each the first step is the 30-second power reset:

• F10: thermal runaway. The oven is detecting higher-than-normal temperatures. Turn it off and let it cool, then reset. On stone-baked pizza ovens, Frigidaire says F10 can come from the Pizza Shield sitting in the wrong rack position.
• F1: shorted keypad.
• F3, F20 or F26: communication error.
• F30 and F31: open or shorted probe.
• F40 and F41: cooktop lockout.
• F90 to F94: door lock issue. Press Unlock if your model has it, then reset. Never force the door.

When to call a technician: any F-code that returns after the reset. If the oven keeps heating with the controls off, leave the breaker off until it is repaired. For heating problems, see oven not heating up.

What usually fails

• Washers: the water inlet valve (E1, E11), drain pump (E2, E21) and lid or door lock (E3, E42).
• Dryers: the humidity sensor (E4). EF1 is usually a vent to clean, not a part.
• Dishwashers: the drain pump or a clog in the drain path (i20).
• Ovens and ranges: the keypad (F1), door lock assembly (F90 to F94), meat probe or its jack (F30, F31), and the oven sensor or control (F10).
