Typical repair ranges by appliance

These are typical all-in ranges for common repairs on standard brands, including parts. Premium brands run higher.

• Refrigerator: most repairs land between $200 and $450. Evaporator fans, defrost parts, start relays and inlet valves are on the lower end; control boards and ice maker assemblies on the higher end. Compressor and sealed-system work is rarely worth it on older units.
• Washing machine: $200 to $400 for drain pumps, door locks, lid switches, belts and inlet valves. Tub bearings and transmissions can exceed $450 and often trigger a replace conversation.
• Dryer: $180 to $320. Thermal fuses, elements, thermostats, igniters, belts and rollers are all inexpensive parts.
